I wish to copy these files to an external hard drive which is 1TB in size. However, I want the copy to be such that if I make any changes to my files on the laptop, these changes are synced to the external HDD. If I add or remove or move files, the same needs to be reflected on the external HDD
As a first solution, I tried using file history. Adobe zii 6. Unfortunately, the second time it started syncing, all the files were being duplicated meaning my storage used went up from 400GB to 800GB. That was a big waste of time and it wouldn't have worked the third time I connect my external HDD
So, I'm looking for solutions similar to the way OneDrive works. Any changes are reflected. File not changed stay the same. Newer versions should replace the old version, not add a new copy.

You made changes and saved that file on the external drive. What’s a big deal? But syncing for all the new changes made to the same file and then saving the new version is the real task. This process is called file synchronization where new changes are automatically saved to the files. This works when the file is saved on the drive (internal). In case, the file is saved on an external drive, taking windows 10 in reference, you need a backup and sync software for windows 10. This backup sync software windows will track all the new changes and automatically save on the connected external drive. This article will explain all the possible ways to proceed with this process.
Hi,I'm just experimenting with Qsync to see if it will do what I want. All multimedia files exist on the NAS. I'd like to rip movies & CDs to local computer and then have them sync to NAS without having to manual copy or wait for backup schedule. It doesn't appear as though Qsync can be set up for this, as simple as the concept may sound.
Shared folder structure on NAS:
/Multimedia/Movies/<movie title>/
/Multimedia/Music/FLAC/<album title>/
/Multimedia/Music/MP3/<album title>/
As a test I've set up this Qsync managed pair:
Shared folder on NAS Paired local folder
/Multimedia D:usersnethawkMovies
I want this to be one-way sync, from computer to NAS. This is where the problem begins. In Qsync client Folder Pair Settings it states 'Select the folder(s) to synchronize to this computer'. However Selective Sync settings 'Select folder(s) to synchronize with this computer

' (bold is mine for emphasis). Because I just want one-way sync to NAS nothing is selected (see screen grab below). With this setting nothing syncs, so I try to work around it. I found that in the D:usersnethawkMovies folder (Windows) if I right-click on a folder there is Qsync client options to 'Copy to' and 'Move to', but the options don't include the Movies folder. If I go to another Windows folder outside of the paired local folder and right click I can 'Copy to Movies (MediaNAS)'. But this copies nothing to the NAS, rather it executes a local copy from source to D:usersnethawkMovies.Note: I realize that only the top level shared folders can be selected on the NAS (/Multimedia, not /Multimedia/Movies), but was hoping it would be smart enough to put the files on the right NAS folder - still don't know because it hasn't copied anything to the NAS.

Playing around further it appears that no matter what settings are enabled or disabled and regardless of whether files exist or not, Qsync insists on coping from NAS to computer.
Kinda weird, I gotta say. Maybe my definition and Qnap's on what sync is differs?
